The Founder

Jim JohnsonJim Johnson, founder and President of Continental Printing & Business Forms, Inc., began his credit union career while in the military service working with the Supervisory Committee of the U.S. Air Force Security Service Federal Credit Union in San Antonio, Texas. Little did he know at the time that he would be working with credit unions for the rest of his career. After his military service, Jim worked for a state credit union league organizing new credit unions and assisting those already in operation. He became manager and treasurer of two of the credit unions he organized for the next ten years. During that time, he also served on the state league board of directors and several of the local chapter offices.

Later, Jim spent several years marketing various products exclusively to credit unions, including share drafts (checks) for credit union members. It was during this time that Jim recognized the need for reasonably priced business forms for credit unions. After an initial “low-ball” price, traditional printers continually raise prices knowing credit union staff do not have time to send every order out for competitive quotes. In 1989, Jim founded Continental Printing and established a policy guaranteeing THE PRICE FOR REPEAT ORDERS FOR ANY CREDIT UNION WILL NOT INCREASE FOR AT LEAST 2 FULL YEARS AFTER THE INITIAL ORDER. With word of mouth as his only advertising means, Jim established a client base and secured the future of the business.

With over 600 credit union clients, the majority of Continental’s business is still accredited to client referrals. Continental relies on the satisfaction of its clients to ensure its continued growth because, at Continental, we believe our success should come only after your satisfaction!

Through years of credit union experience, Jim has learned that credit unions are under continued pressure, both from boards of directors and NCUA regulators, to reduce their costs of operations. Continental Printing is proud to be a part of the cost-saving effort of credit unions.

Continental Printing has corporate offices centrally located in Lake Ozark, Missouri, with production plants and climate-controlled warehouses in cities across the country.
